He is the Smooth Bitch that isn’t. As a breeder and trainer, sometimes you don’t get the puppy you want, you get the puppy you need.

After years of working with heavy coated roughs (one being a male), Tanya was really looking forward to a smooth bitch and wasn’t picky about color. A litter was planned with Aurora and Tanya’s Ranger, hoping to produce a smooth bitch to continue the line in the show and performance rings. Out of nine puppies, Ranger and Aurora had six roughs and four boys. After three months, Paden (not a smooth bitch but a heavy coated blue boy) came to live with us. He is a beautiful showman and a willing participant in the performance arena. He reminds me of our previous blue roughs (Daiquiri, his great-grandmother, and Banjo, his great uncle). His career as a show and performance dog is just beginning and he can’t wait. He always has the attitude of “I’m ready, Mom. Teach me something.” Eternally happy and rambunctious, Paden is the puppy Tanya needed to go forward in her training career even if he isn’t a smooth bitch.
